Just the Two of Them

This was a middle of summer, too hot to function kind of day in Toulouse.

The kind where you question all your life choices at 4pm.

So we waited. Because if you’re photographing a dog and her human, you plan around the dog. Not the sun.

Hatchi Runs the Schedule

Hatchi arrived ready.

Tongue out. Eyes bright. Fully convinced this entire situation existed for his entertainment.

And honestly? He wasn’t wrong.

We kept it simple. A quiet field. No complicated setups. Just space for him to be himself.

Which meant running. Sniffing. Checking the horizon for absolutely no reason. Then coming back like, “Okay fine, I’ll pose for two seconds.”

A didn’t try to control him. She just laughed. That’s the difference.

You can tell when someone really knows their dog. There’s no forcing. No constant commands. Just understanding.

Barley Fields and Zero Pretending

The light was still bright. The air still warm. The barley fields looked like they were on fire in the best way.

Hatchi moved through it like he owned the place.

And A just followed.

There’s something very honest about photographing someone with their dog. It strips everything back. No awkward “what do I do with my hands.” Because your hands are automatically on fur.

At one point Hatchi stopped, looked up at her like she was the only person in the world, and that was it.

That’s the whole story.

Dog parents deserve to be in the frame too.
